Overview
InspectorEats (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates inspectoreats.com, a restaurant health inspection aggregator that displays publicly available government data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We do not collect personal health data from users.
Information We Collect
We collect limited, non-personal information automatically when you visit our site:
- Usage data — pages visited, time on site, referring URLs, browser type, device type, and general geographic region (country/state level). This is collected through Google Analytics.
- Cookies — small text files stored on your device by your browser. We use cookies for analytics and, if ads are served, for advertising personalization via Google AdSense.
- Log data — server logs provided by our hosting provider (Vercel) may include your IP address, browser information, and pages requested.
We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information unless you contact us directly.
How We Use Your Information
- To understand how visitors use the site and improve our service
- To measure the performance of pages and identify technical issues
- To serve relevant advertisements via Google AdSense
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Our Data
InspectorEats aggregates publicly available health inspection records published by local, county, and state government health departments. We do not generate, modify, or manufacture inspection results. No personal health information about users is collected or stored on our platform.

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — collects anonymized usage statistics to help us understand site traffic. Google may use this data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Google AdSense — serves advertisements on our site. Google uses cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your prior visits to our site and other sites on the web.
- Vercel — our hosting and infrastructure provider. Vercel processes request logs as part of normal operation.
Cookie Policy
We use the following types of cookies:
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics to track aggregate usage patterns. These do not identify you personally.
- Advertising cookies— set by Google AdSense to deliver and measure ads. You can opt out of personalized ads via Google’s Ad Settings.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may affect some site functionality.
Your Rights — CCPA & GDPR
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to know — you can request information about what data we have collected about you.
- Right to deletion — you can request that we delete personal data we hold about you.
- Right to opt out— California residents may opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. You may also opt out of personalized advertising via Google’s Ad Settings.
- Right to data portability — where applicable, you may request a copy of your data in a portable format.
Because we collect minimal personal data, most requests will be straightforward to fulfill. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via inspectoreats.com.
Data Retention
We retain analytics data for as long as necessary to understand usage trends and improve the site, typically no longer than 26 months, in accordance with Google Analytics defaults. Server logs are retained per Vercel’s standard retention policy.
Children’s Privacy
InspectorEats is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
